Buddhist Meditation

We had to smile at a recent day trip description sent to us which went something like this...

"Early start from Bangkok - Visit Kanchanaburi and Bridge on the River Kwai - Visit Thai Wisdom Centre - Understand Buddhism - Return to Bangkok late evening"

IF only it were THAT simple! That said, if you are visiting Thailand and would like to learn a little bit more about Buddhism and the practice of meditation in general, then you could do a lot worse than to join us on this fascinating 3 day retreat... No previous experience required... and no guarantee of instant enlightenment either, but if nothing else, we hope you'll return with a much deeper understanding of this gentle and rewarding art.

Itinerary
Day 1: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi - Meditation Practice
Our guide will meet you at your hotel in Bangkok for the transfer to the Thai Wisdom Centre and the Tiger Conservation Project.  Started by monks at forest temple Wat Pa Luang Ta Bua, the 700,800 square meter sanctuary is rich in natural scenery with many kinds of wildlife such as peacock, deer, gibbon, wild boar, etc.

Getting to this magical place is half the fun. An exhilarating forty-minute boat trip from Pakseng through spectacular gorges, beckoning beaches and clusters of brilliantly coloured birds, delight the senses as one ventures deeper into the wild heart of the jungle.

The meditation program is based on the Vipassana Meditation Practice Course and follows the FOUNDATIONS OF MINDFULNESS (Satipatthana 4):

1) Kayanupassana: Contemplation of the body, Mindfulness as regards the body
2) Vedananupassana: Contemplation of feelings, Mindfulness as regards feelings
3) Cittanupassana: Contemplation of mind, Mindfulness as regards thoughts
4) Dhammanupassana: Contemplation of mind-objects, Mindfulness as regards ideas

You will learn about:

- What is Life?
- What is the Nature of Mind?
- How to learn and understand your Mind?
- How to develop your Mind?

- How to use the power of Mind in daily life?
